Moses-von-Choren-Medal
The Moses von Choren Medal or Mowses Chorenazi Medal ( Armenian Մովսես Խորենացու մեդալ ) is Armenia's highest cultural award . It was named after Moses von Choren , a late antique Armenian historian. It consists of a special copper alloy and is produced by stamping. It is handed over by the President of Armenia to people who have made a significant contribution to promoting Armenian culture. According to the law, the Moses von Choren Medal has been awarded since 1993 for outstanding achievements in the fields of Armenian culture, art, literature, education and the humanities and, since August 9, 2008, for outstanding achievements in the fields of social sciences and sport. From 2008 to 2015, during the reign of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the award was given to 316 men and 157 women, 336 of whom were Armenian citizens.
