Moskovsky Komsomolets

Moskovsky Komsomolez ( Russian Московский комсомолец , German "Moscow Komsomolez") is a popular Russian daily newspaper of tabloid style. According to its own information, it has a circulation of up to 750,000 copies, making it the second largest newspaper in Russia.

The Moskwoski Komsomolets was founded in 1919 as a newspaper for the communist youth under the name Junyj kommunar (Young Communard in Russian: Юный коммунар). From 1920 to 1924 she appeared under the name Junoschskaja Prawda (German: Jugendwahrheit, Russian: Юношеская правда), until 1928 as Molodoi Leninez (German: Young Leninist, Russian: Молодой ленинец). It has had its current name since 1929. Under Stalin it had to cease publication twice, from 1931 to 1939 and from 1942 to 1944. By the end of the eighties, the newspaper was officially the organ of the Committee of the Communist Party youth Komsomol of district and city Moscow . After that, like many newspapers, it became the property of the editorial staff.

It has retained its popularity from the time of glasnost to this day. 33 percent of Moscow citizens and 9 percent of Russians as a whole read them regularly (data from 2003). The newspaper reaches 1.3 million readers with its editions. With MK-Deutschland there has been an edition for Germany since 2001, which has its editorial office in Frankfurt am Main.
