Mostostal was the name for an association of numerous state-owned companies in the mechanical engineering and industrial construction sector during the time of the People's Republic of Poland .

history

In 1945 a state company was founded under the name Przedsiębiorstwa Budowy Mostów i Konstrukcji Stalowych “Mostostal” , which should have been responsible for the reconstruction of destroyed bridges and steel structures. In 1946 the company's headquarters were moved from Kraków to Zabrze. In 1951 the company was restructured into a Central Office for Steel Structures "Mostostal" with its headquarters in Warsaw and independent companies called Mostostal were founded in Zabrze , Poznań, Piotrków Trybunalski and Warsaw . In 1958 the Central Office was transformed into an association for steel structures and industrial plants in Mostostal .

By order of President Bolesław Bierut on July 22, 1949, the Mostostal Company was awarded the Order of the 1st Class Labor Banner for outstanding service to the nation and the state in the field of construction .

In the early 1990s, the individual companies in the association were privatized.
