The motif is the name of two deserted areas in the Lettin district of Halle . The village names indicate swampy terrain.

The eastern motic

East of Lettin, between Brandbergen and the gravel pit , was a motisch. It was mentioned three times: in 1400 Archbishop Albrecht IV enfeoffed Thilo Sume once with a yard and three hooves in villa Motschirue and in the same year with a yard in villa Masschirue and four hooves in campis Masschirue . In addition, Mötzschmark is mentioned in 1750 .

The western motif

This village was between Latvian and Dölau at the source of Haßgrabens 51 ° 31 '15.7 "  N , 11 ° 53' 43.2"  O . It was mentioned in 1459 when Archbishop Friedrich III. enfeoffed a Heise Hedderslebe with, among other things, the tithe to Lettin zu Metzenmark . In 1834 foundation walls were found on the farm. The settlement died quite early and the inhabitants moved to Lettin.
