BSG Motor Reichenbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The BSG Motor Reichenbach was a company sports association in the western Saxon town of Reichenbach in Vogtland .

Motor Reichenbach was the company sports association of the Reichenbach hub and clutch factory VEB Renak. At times the BSG also carried the name Motor Renak Reichenbach. The BSG became known beyond the borders of the former GDR district of Karl-Marx-Stadt when their soccer team qualified for the GDR-wide FDGB soccer cup competition in 1954 .

At this point in time, the BSG Motor soccer team had not even reached the district league level (3rd division). It was not until 1959 that they were promoted to the district league, which at that time was only the fourth division. In the first district league season in 1960 Motor 7 was turned over. In 1961/62 the football season was changed to the autumn-spring rhythm, and 39 point games had to be completed. Motor Reichenbach finished the season with a 12th place, equivalent to relegation to the district class. At the same time, the BSG Motor was overtaken by the BSG unit Reichenbach , which rose to the third-class II. DDR league in 1962 and later set the tone in Reichenbach football as SG Blau-Weiß. After relegation in 1962, Motor Reichenbach never returned to the district league. In 1990, as a result of the economic changes caused by the political turnaround in 1989, the Renak factory stopped supporting BSG Motor, the company sports community was dissolved.

The greatest success of the motor soccer team was participation in the FDGB soccer cup competition in 1954/55 . On August 8, 1954, the Reichenbacher had home rights against the second division Motor Altenburg . Despite the class difference, BSG Motor defied the favorites with an extension and finally a 2-2 draw. Also in the replay in Altenburg on August 15, Reichenbach kept the game open and was only barely defeated 0: 1.
