Engine capsule

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An engine casing is a component in the engine compartment of motor vehicles , for the insulation of the internal combustion engine and gearbox outgoing noise emission .

National or international laws and regulations limit the maximum permissible noise emissions of a motor vehicle. Typical encapsulation measures are therefore aimed at reducing lateral sound radiation. Engine capsules are structurally integrated into the vehicle concept in such a way that:

  • easy assembly / disassembly
  • good serviceability
  • a retrofit

is possible. Thanks to an intelligent design, the temperature load caused by the engine is not a problem and a significant reduction in the flow resistance of the sub-floor is also achieved.
