Mount Cartwright is a sharp-rimmed mountain peak at an altitude of 3,325 m in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Hughes Range it rises about 11 km north-northwest of Mount Waterman from a mountain ridge with a north-south orientation.
He was discovered and photographed by the United States Antarctic Service during Flight C from February 29 to March 1, 1940. From 1957 to 1958, the geophysicist Albert P. Crary (1911–1987) carried out land surveys of the area. The mountain is named after the meteorologist Gordon Cartwright (1906–1997), the first of a series of American exchange scientists on the Mirny Station as part of the International Geophysical Year .
