The Journal of Refractive Surgery , abbreviated J. Refractive Surg. , is a scientific journal published by Slack Publishing on behalf of the International Society of Refractive Surgery . The journal was founded in 1985 under the current name, changed from 1989 to 1994 to Refractive and Corneal Surgery before the name Journal of Refractive Surgery was adopted again at the end of 1994 . It appears twelve issues a year. Papers are published that deal with surgical interventions on the refractive media of the eye ( refractive surgery ).

The impact factor in 2014 was 3.468. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor ranks sixth out of 57 journals in the ophthalmology category and 22nd out of 198 journals in the surgery category.
