Zhan Wang
Zhan Wang ( Chinese 展望 , Pinyin Zhǎn Wàng ; * 1962 in Beijing , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese sculptor.
Life
Zhan Wang was educated at Beijing Industrial Arts College from 1978 to 1981 . His education was determined by the style of socialist realism that was prevalent in China at the time . From 1983 to 1988 he studied sculpture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAAC). Only after graduating from there did he turn to modern sculpture.
The characteristics of today's style by Zhan Wang include artificial stones , which he makes from steel and which in some cases achieved very high prices in the international art trade. So far he has exhibited both nationally and internationally. He spent one of his characters in 2004 on the summit of Mount Everest in the Himalayas . In 2008 he made steel copies of rocks from California's Sierra Nevada for an exhibition in San Francisco , California . In 2015 the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg showed some of his larger-than-life steel sculptures.
