Mount Cortés is a 1490 m high and mostly icy mountain in southern Grahamland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises on the southwest flank of the Gibbs Glacier . It is separated from Hadley Upland by a 1300 m high saddle .
Trimetrogon images of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) from November 1947 were used for mapping. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys in December 1958. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on August 31, 1962 after the Spanish cosmographer Martín Cortés de Albacar (1510–1582), author of the navigation manual Breve Compendio de la Sphera y de la Arte de Navegar from 1551.
