Mount Fitzsimmons

Mount Fitzsimmons is a 876  m high mountain in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . On the Edward VII Peninsula, it rises as the highest peak of the Rockefeller Mountains between Mount Jackling and Mount Shideler .

It was discovered on January 27, 1929 during an overflight on the first Antarctic expedition (1928–1930) of the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . It is named after LeRoy G. Fitzsimmons (1915–1945), participant of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941), also led by Byrd .
