The Edward VII Peninsula (also King Edward VII Peninsula or King Edward VII Land ) is an Antarctic peninsula in the northwest of Marie Byrd Land . To the northeast of the ice-covered peninsula is Sulzberger Bay , while the Ross Ice Shelf connects to the southwest . The point that protrudes farthest into the Ross Sea and at the same time the most easterly point of the open Ross Sea is Cape Colbeck (the Siple coast further south extends further to the east, but is covered by the Ross Ice Shelf). South of Cape Colbeck lies the Shirase coast , east of it the Saunders coast . On the peninsula there are two mountains, the Rockefeller Mountains and the Alexandra Mountains .

The Edward VII Peninsula was discovered on January 30, 1902 during the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott , who named the area after King Edward VII . The fact that Edward VII Land is a peninsula was established during the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) by the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .

Most of the peninsula - west of 150 ° west - is claimed as part of the Ross Dependency of New Zealand.
