The Mount Gladstone is a mountain in Marlborough District on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The 2370 m high mountain is located around 5.5 km northwest of the 2885 m high Tapuae-o-Uenuki and around 6.3 km southeast of the Awatere River in the Inland Kaikoura Range . The Mount Gladstone is the southern end of a protracted north mountain range whose peaks all below 2000 m are high and the western side of the valley of the Trail Stream forms. Opposite it is the Red Hills mountain range .
The mountain range represents the headwaters of the trail stream going northeast , the Otterson Stream flowing to the northwest and the mountain streams flowing towards the Totara Stream , to which the Gladstone Stream also belongs.
The Totara Stream later flows into the Winterton River , which, like the Otterson Stream , feeds the Awatere River . The trail stream feeds its waters to the Hodder River , which also flows a little further northeast into the Awatere River .
