The Mount Leichhardt is in the south of the Northern Territory in Australia . The mountain is named after the Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt . It is 168 kilometers from the Aboriginal settlement of Papunya and 150 miles from Alice Springs . An unpaved road leads to the 1105 meter high mountain in the Nanga Range ; the Stuart Highway is 108 kilometers away.

In the vicinity of the mountain are the Leichhardt Bore and the Leichhardt Spring .
