Mount Lola (in Argentina Cerro Lola ) is a 170 m high mountain on Laurie Island in the archipelago of the Southern Orkney Islands . It towers over Point Lola on the east side of the entrance to Uruguay Cove .
The name of the mountain appears for the first time on an Argentine map from 1930, based on measurements from 1914 by Ignacio Espíndola, captain of the corvette Uruguay from 1914 to 1915, and from 1930 by Ángel Rodríguez, captain of the Primero de Mayo , based. It is named after Maria Dolores "Lola" Bosch, wife of Luciano Honorio Valette (1880–1957), who in 1904 worked as a meteorologist at the Orcadas station . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the Argentine name into English in 1953.
