Mount Wales is an approximately 800 m high mountain peak on Bristol Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic . It rises west-southwest of Mount Sourabaya .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2013. It is named after the British astronomer William Wales (≈1734–1789), who accompanied the British navigator and explorer James Cook on his second South Seas voyage (1772–1775) on the ship HMS Resolution , where the discovery of the South Sandwich Islands succeeded.
