In 1999 the band was founded (still under a different name) in their hometown, where they played at concerts and festivals. She recorded her first EP in 2002, after which she was signed by the Norwegian independent label Bauta Records . After a second EP, the band recorded their debut album A New Order Rising in 2004 , which attracted attention in Norway. After the album was licensed for all of Europe by the German label Glitterhouse in 2005 , the band gained international fame. The musicians are supported by established Norwegian stars such as Håkon Gebhardt from Motorpsycho and Ane Marthe Brun .

On November 8, 2011, Glitterhouse announced on its homepage that the band would change their name to Mount Washington. According to a statement by the band, this happened on the one hand because of a musical further development, but on the other hand it was also due to numerous mix-ups with the Australian musician Megan Washington, who also publishes songs under the name "Washington".
