The Mount Woolley is located in Sunwapta River Valley of Jasper National Park about 1.5 km south of the diadem peaks . J. Norman Collie named the mountain in 1898 after Hermann Woolley, a football player who accompanied Collie on his expeditions to the Canadian Rockies in 1898 and 1902 .
The first ascent was made in 1925 by a Japanese team consisting of S. Hashimoto, H. Hatano, T. Hayakawa, Y. Maki, Y. Mita and N. Okabe.
