The moss rose Mousseux Ancien , synonymous with 'Mousseux Ancienne', is a single-flowering, strongly scented variety with well "mossy" cups. The frost-hardy variety was bred by Jean-Pierre Vibert in France in 1825 and grows about four feet tall. The parent varieties are unknown.
Its flowers are well filled, lilac-pink - brightening towards the edge, darker in the middle. The foliage of 'Mousseux Ancien' is light green.
The rose variety is exhibited in many rosariums and gardens around the world, including the Rosarium Petrović , the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, the Parc de la Tête d'Or and the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen.
