Movimiento de Participación Popular

The Movimiento de Participación Popular (MPP) (German: Movement for the Participation of the People ) is a political party in Uruguay .

The party was founded in 1989 by leading members of the Tupamaros , a guerrilla movement in Uruguay from the 1960s and 70s. This also included the President of Uruguay from March 2010 to the end of February 2015, José Mujica . The founding of the party was guided by the decision to form a political arm of the movement to go the parliamentary route. The MPP belongs to the party alliance Frente Amplio , which is currently the government in Uruguay. She is the strongest political force within this alliance. The party’s president is Mrs. Mujicas, Lucía Topolansky .
