Mozn Hassan

Mozn Hassan ( Arabic مزن حسن; * 1979 ) is an Egyptian feminist and human rights activist. She heads the non-governmental organization Nazra for Feminist Studies . In 2016 she and the organization received the Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize) .

Training

Mozn Hassan obtained a Bachelor (BA) in Greco-Roman Studies from the University of Alexandria in 2000 . In 2002, she graduated with a degree in Civil Society and Human Rights from Cairo University . In 2005 she completed a Masters (MA) in International Human Rights Law at the American University in Cairo . She carried out several studies on the situation of women in Egypt and other Muslim countries for the university.

Nazra for Feminist Studies

In December 2007 she founded the women's rights organization Nazra for Feminist Studies , which supports women in Egypt and other countries with information, training, studies and activities.

In 2016 Mozn Hassan and the organization received the Right Livelihood Award "for their commitment to equality and the rights of women under circumstances of persistent violence, abuse and discrimination".
