Mtawari

Mtawari ( Georgian : მთავარი, roughly translated "ruler") was a title of rule in Georgia and corresponds to that of a prince . From the 11th to the 14th century, the title correlated just like Tawadi with the title Eristawi and is a synonym for one of the upper aristocracy , a prince . During the heyday of the Kingdom of Georgia in the 12th – 13th centuries. In the 19th century, the title changed to a hereditary title of nobility. In the 15th century, only the five ruling royal houses of Western Georgia ( Samtskhe , Mingrelia , Guria , Svaneti and Abkhazia ) were allowed to wear it until their autonomy was replaced by the rule of Russia .
