The muCommander is a platform-independent and open source file manager . The source code can be found at the file hosting service GitHub . As a portable software , muCommander also enables spontaneous changes between different operating systems and file systems .
In markup languages, the string mu describes the Greek letter μ, the symbol of the unit prefix micro . Its coding by mu is compact and universal at the same time because it is ASCII . The muCommander makes extensive use of the Extensible Markup Language .
The muCommander is in the tradition of the Norton Commander . The muCommander is particularly useful for macOS . The user interface of the muCommander supports over two dozen languages.
Since October 2004 muCommander has also been a client for the File Transfer Protocol .
The muCommander has been free software since September 2007 and also understands the network file system .
The muCommander is now also a client for the SSH File Transfer Protocol .
