Live and act

Muhammad Amin ruled the Khiva Khanate from 1845 to 1855. During his reign, outstanding buildings, now part of the Ichan Qalʼа UNESCO World Heritage Site , were built. In the west of the old town immediately south of the Konya Ark citadel , he had the Muhammad Amin Khan madrasah built. It is the largest medrese in the city and richly decorated. Immediately in front of the madrasah, the blue Kalta Minor minaret , one of the city's most striking landmarks , was erected. Kalta Minor was originally intended to be the tallest minaret in the world. With the death of Muhammad Amin Khan, however, the building was abandoned unfinished.

The Khan Muhammad Amin carried out several campaigns against the Turkmens . In this way he expanded and fortified the boundaries of his khanate. In 1855 he was killed in an attack by Turkmen warriors. The head of Muhammad Amin is said to have been sent to the Shah of Persia , who ordered an honorable burial .
