The Madrasa Muhammad Amin Khan is a madrassah in Ichan Qal'а , the historic city of Khiva . It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage . Immediately in front of this is the unfinished and conspicuous minaret Kalta Minor . The Orient Star Khiva Hotel is located in the madrasah.

Building

The Muhammad Amin Khan madrasah is located immediately south of the citadel of the city of Konya Ark . It was named after the Khan of Khiva Muhammad Amin (reigned 1845 to 1855), who had this monument erected for himself. Kalta Minor, the minaret, also came from him. It was considered a certain duty of a Khiva Khan to build a madrasah.

The layout of the building is 72 meters by 60 meters. The two-story madrasah has 125 chudras for 260 students. The medrese with the portals decorated with tiles made of striking majolica is crowned with five domes and flanked by towers. The chudras on the upper floor each have a loggia with a pointed arch . On the entrance portal is the inscription: "This beautiful building will stand forever for the joy of those who will come". The madrasah is connected to Kalta Minor by a small wooden bridge .

The world cultural heritage is used as a hotel . The students' khudras were converted into hotel rooms for guests.
