Muhammad Hasan an-Najafi

Sheikh Muhammad Hasan an-Najafi (محمد حسن النجفي; born 1785 or 1787; died 1849 ) was a senior Shiite cleric who worked in Najaf . In 1846 he was generally recognized as a mardschaʿ-e Taghlid , and after his death he was followed by his student Sheikh Mortaza Ansari . One of his most famous students was Ayatollah Sheikh Zain al-ʿĀbidīn Mazandarani .

His major work is his extensive Jawāhir al-kalām , a large encyclopedia of law.
