Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa , also Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Issa or Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa ( Arabic محمد بن عبد الكريم العيسى, DMG Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Karīm al-ʿĪsā ; born June 9, 1965 in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia ) is a Saudi Arabian politician. He is general secretary of the World Islamic League , president of the International Islamic Halal Organization and former Saudi Minister of Justice.

Education and career

Al-Issa earned a bachelor's degree in Islamic law and a master's degree in comparative law and constitutional law from Al-Imam University in Riyadh .

After graduating, Al-Issa was initially a lecturer at Al-Imam University and from 2007 to 2009 Vice Chairman of the complaints department there. On February 14, 2009, he was appointed as the successor to the Saudi Justice Minister Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh and served as Justice Minister until the end of January 2015. This appointment was made as part of King Abdullah's reform initiatives , and at the same time as Nura bint Abdullah al-Fayez, a woman was appointed to the Saudi government for the first time as Deputy Minister for Education. On August 4, 2016, Al-Issa was appointed General Secretary of the Islamic World League to succeed Abdallah Ben Abdel Mohsen At-Turki .

Al-Issa visited the former Auschwitz concentration camp on January 23, 2020 with 62 other high-ranking Islamic dignitaries, together with David Harris, Chairman of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) . This visit took place in connection with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, which was set by the UN as International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust .
