The Islamic University of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud ( Arabic جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية, DMG Ǧāmiʿat al-Imām Muḥammad b. Saʿūd al-Islāmīya ), or al-Imam University (IMSIU) in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia , is named after the tribal leader Muhammad ibn Saud (1710–1765), the first imam of the Saud dynasty . It goes back to the two "colleges" for Arabic Studies and Islamic Law founded in 1953 . In 1974 it was given university status by a decree from King Faisal ibn Abd al-Aziz .

The university has 10 faculties. In 2000/2001 it had more than 23,000 students and 1,300 employees. It has grown considerably since then. In 2013 it had 101,078 students and 3,768 employees. It has “intermediate and secondary Islamic institutes” in the most important cities of Saudi Arabia, Ra's al-Khaimah ( UAE ), the USA , Indonesia , Malaysia , Djibouti and Japan . She has her own printing house. In addition, the university realizes its goals within the Islamic Sharia.

The Saudi blogger Raif Badawi described the university as "a breeding ground for terrorists".
