Mulroy Island is a small island off the north coast of West Antarctic Thurston Island . It lies before the eastern foothills of Noville Peninsula lying Black Crag .

The island was discovered during the United States Navy research expedition into the Bellingshausen Sea in February 1960. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1961 after Thomas B. Mulroy (1895–1962), a fuel engineer on the first Antarctic expedition (1928–1962). 1930) by the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .
