The Noville Peninsula is a 48 km long, icy and towering peninsula on the north coast of Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It is located between Peale Inlet and Murphy Inlet .
Your position was determined from aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy in December 1946 during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1952 after George Otto Noville (1890-1963), managing director of the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd .
The peninsula was the scene of the crash of a Martin PBM Mariner of Operation Highjump on December 30, 1946 . Three members of the nine-person crew were killed. The remaining six were rescued on January 12, 1947.
