Ryan Foster (born November 2, 1974 in Brampton , Ontario ) is a former Austro - Canadian ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

Ryan Foster graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in education while also playing ice hockey for the national university sports organization Canadian Interuniversity Sport . He then came to more than 30 international appearances for the Canadian national team in the 1998/99 season , before playing in the three top leagues in Austria from 1999 to 2013.

In the second-class national league he won the championship title in 2003 with EK Zell am See , in 2009 with EHC Lustenau and 2011 with VEU Feldkirch and was always one of the top scorers in the league. With Zell (2000-02), EC VSV (2002) and EC KAC (2005-07) he also made over 160 appearances in the Austrian ice hockey league and in 2002 was the most successful goalscorer in the Bundesliga. In 2013 he won the championship title of the third class NAH league with the EC Tarco Wölfen Klagenfurt . In between season breaks he appeared as a guest player for Leksands IF ( Elitserien ) and Bakersfield Condors ( West Coast Hockey League ).

In 2013 he started his coaching career at EC KAC, among other things as head coach of the U16 and U18 teams, as well as assistant coach of the combat team. After completing his qualified coaching course in summer 2016, he and Kirk Furey took over the EC KAC farm team playing in the Alps Hockey League (AHL) .
