MBS / IP ("Multi-purpose Business Security over IP") is a network protocol developed by RACON Software GmbH Linz .
It was defined by the STUZZA in 1997 as the data transmission standard for files in electronic banking in Austria and has been used by all Austrian banks within the framework of the Multi-Bank Standard (MBS) since then.
It has a similar structure to FTP , but uses SSL for encryption . On the server side, MBS / IP uses port 3048. The data that the client and server exchange are usually in EDIFACT format.
