The installation took place on April 1, 2018 in Koblenz in the property of the Rhein-Kaserne .

history

As part of the further development of the Framework Nations Concept (FNC) Cluster Medical Support, the inspectors of eight medical services of European NATO countries signed a basic document for increased and sustainable cooperation on May 2, 2017 at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz. By signing the declaration of intent, they symbolically laid the foundation stone for a joint planning and coordination element for European medical services, the Multinational Medical Coordination Center. In order to support the cooperation of the medical services effectively and target-oriented, this multinational planning element was set up under the leadership of the medical service of the Bundeswehr and operated together with the participating partner nations. The main task of the Multinational Medical Coordination Center, or MMCC for short, is to create the necessary conditions for the multinational medical service support of the armed forces in the entire range of tasks. The MMCC is thus accelerating the development that is already taking place towards significantly more international cooperation and acting as a catalyst in the area of capability enhancement. The multinational staff started work at the beginning of April 2018. At the turn of the year 2018/19, cooperation in some fields with the MilMedCoE (Center of Excellence in Military Medecine) was agreed, and the ninth partner for the MMCC was won with the British medical service.

In addition, the PESCO initiative was assigned to the European Medical Command (EMC) by a deployment order from the Sanitary Service inspector. Under the motto "two initiatives - one task", the support staff is responsible for setting up both the MMCC and the EMC. On the 3rd / 4th September 2019 the IOC (Initial Operational Capability) ceremony of the MMCC / EMC took place on the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and in the Rhein-Kaserne . With the signing, the highest representatives of the medical services from 14 nations have signed a declaration that is intended to bring both initiatives (NATO / EU) together. With the signing of the Declaration of Initial Operational Capability MMCC / EMC on the sidelines of the COMEDS Plenary in Brussels on November 27th, the Slovak Republic is the 15th member nation. With the accession of the Republic of Poland, the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Lithuania by mid-2020, 18 nations are now organized in the MMCC / EMC.
