Kaunas multinational cultural center

The multinational cultural Kaunas ( Ref : Kauno įvairių Tautu Kulturu centras ) is a cultural and educational institution in Kaunas to maintain, their action will help national minorities, their identity and culture. Furthermore, it promotes a positive integration of national minorities in Lithuanian society, cross-border tolerance and tolerance among cultures and strives to create a civil society.

history

The facility was established on April 30, 2004. It was established by the Department for National Minorities and Emigrants of the Lithuanian Government and by the Kaunas City Council. On November 18, 2004, the Kaunas multinational center building was inaugurated. Following the reorganization of the Department for National Minorities and Emigrants, the rights of the participant were transferred to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania on January 1, 2010 by a government decision . The director is Dainius Babilas.

The facility organizes around 70 cultural events annually: concerts, art exhibitions, evening entertainment, poetry lessons, presentations of culinary heritage and book presentations. It also organizes training courses and seminars for senior, senior, active and young members of national minority communities. The institution invites scientists and experts to scientific conferences, seminars and discussions about history, activities, current questions and problems, integration processes. The administration of the facility collects, systematizes and disseminates material on national minorities, assists scientists, students and pupils in conducting research, prepares lectures and articles for the press, and participates in television and radio broadcasts.

In 2006–2012, the institution organized the annual festival of the peoples of Lithuania "Bridges of Cultures" - one of the largest cultural events of the national minorities in Lithuania . In the festival, the best art collectives of Lithuanian national minorities gave concerts, presentations of trades and creative activities of children were organized. The festival was traditionally organized in the center of the city of Kaunas in the open air, in 2013 it was held in Alytus . In 2008 and 2013, the institution hosted the National Minority Sunday School Festival, which is organized in a different city in the country every year.

Since 2006 the institution has regularly organized photography projects in which professional photo artists collaborate with the communities of national minorities and the students of Lithuanian schools to prepare exhibitions where different cultures are presented. Later, these exhibitions are presented in various cultural centers, galleries, schools, shopping malls and other public institutions in Lithuania.

The facility works closely with the non-governmental organizations of the national minorities ( German , Armenian , Belarusian , Polish , Roma , Russian , Tatar , Ukrainian , Jewish and others). Events of the communities of the national minorities, assemblies and repetitions of the art collectives always take place in the rooms of the institution.

It is the only facility in the Kaunas region with this type of activity. A similar institution in Vilnius is called the House of National Communities .

International cooperation

The institution initiates and organizes international projects according to the EU programs: since 2007 - "Lifelong learning" ("Grundtvig", "Leonardo da Vinci") and "Entrepreneurial youth", since 2014 - " Erasmus + ". She maintains relationships with partners abroad: Germany , Great Britain , Norway , Iceland and the like. a. She participates in projects of other institutions. The administrative staff of the institutions do their advanced training at international training courses and seminars, they go to conferences, professional practices, youth exchange trips and educational visits to EU programs.
