Murbodner beef

The murboden cattle is mainly in Carinthia , of Styria , in Lower Austria and neighboring Slovenia bred.

The ancient breed probably comes from the Celtic mixed cattle and the gray Slovenian cattle. In the 18th century, the Mürz Valley cattle, which penetrated the Murtal , formed the basis for breeding . It mixed with mountain pinto and blond cattle . This created a new, muscular guy.

The Murbodner cattle are high-altitude cattle; the color ranges from semi-blonde to fox red or light gray.

Cows weigh between 550 and 650 kg , bulls 900–1000 kg.

After the Second World War , the population fell very sharply. Furthermore, bulls of the German yellow cattle breed were crossed. It was not until the beginning of the 1980s that Murbodner cattle began to be raised again.
