Coordinates: 26 ° 53 ′ S , 115 ° 57 ′ E The Shire of Murchison is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 41,173 km² and has about 110 inhabitants.
Murchison is located in the west of the state about 560 kilometers north of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the settlement of Murchison, where about 60 residents live (2016).

The Murchison Council has seven members. The councilors are elected by residents of the two wards (four from the Darlot and three from the Ballinyoo Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
