Murder at the Registry (MATR) is a German post-punk band that was founded in 1988. While Murder at the Registry helped shape the German underground music landscape in the early years mainly through their live performances and self-produced tapes and CDRs, the band has existed primarily as a studio project since the early death of the musician Drella R. in 2007.
style
Murder at the Registry has a long tradition and is influenced, for example, by bands such as Joy Division , The Smiths , The Chameleons , Ultravox , The Beatles , Talking Heads , Depeche Mode and And Also the Trees . Basically, Murder at the Registry cannot be tied to a specific sound, but is considered to be one of the most consistent death rock bands in Germany, enjoying cult status in wide circles. Even if the band has always evolved, the typical "murder sound" has always been retained. This is not least due to the high recognition value of Tomasz's voice.
