Muriel Duckworth
Muriel Helen Duckworth (born October 31, 1908 as Muriel Helena Ball in Austin , Québec , † August 22, 2009 in Magog , Québec) was a Canadian pacifist .
Duckworth was a member of the Quaker religion ; after studying at McGill University in Montreal , she studied at Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1929/30 . From 1967 she was for four years chairman of the peace organization Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW); She also helped found the Canadian Council for International Co-operation , an organization that works against poverty. She was one of the most famous pacifists in Canada. In 1983 she was awarded the Order of Canada .
