The Murschrottkapelle

The Murschrottkapelle is a small pilgrimage chapel in the Upper Palatinate district town of Tirschenreuth in the diocese of Regensburg . It was built at the beginning of the 20th century over the Murschrott spring.

The reason for the construction were several healing miracles between the years 1692 and 1714 at this point, where at that time only a miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows was hanging on a linden tree. After the miracles in the city became known, more and more people made pilgrimages to Tirschenreuth, in 1718 there were already more than 11,000 pilgrims.

Due to the increasing number of people, the image of Our Lady was brought to the parish church on November 30, 1721 , and two years later a chapel was built especially for the image of grace.
