The Murtal Express is a five-piece folk music group from Lungau / Salzburg . In 2013 the group was renamed Die Lungauer .

history

The Murtal Express emerged from the duo Andreas Zechner and Thomas Seitlinger, who first appeared together in 1997. After Dominik Gruber joined the band, the name Murtal Express was used for the first time in 1999 , but it wasn't until 2000 that the band was officially founded and has since grown to five members.

Until 2005 the Lungau band expanded their appearances to all of Austria, then there was a big upheaval. Three members left the band, two of them, co-founders Seitlinger and Thomas Kößler, became members of the Juvara brass band . Three new members were added. Then the Murtal Express intensified its activities, in addition to recordings, there were also performances abroad.

In 2008 and 2010 two further line-up changes followed, so that in addition to founding member Zechner, the band has since consisted of Johannes Feuchter, Stefan Wagger, Peter Leitner and Philip Santner. In October 2010, the Murtal Express took part in the 18th Alpine Grand Prix together with the Slovenian Oberkrainer Polka girls and won first place in the folk music category with their contribution Where Music Sounds .

In 2013 the first album "A geile Zeit" was released under the new name "Die Lungauer". In 2016 the second album "Vom Feinsten" was released. In 2017 the group received the " Oberkrainer Award" . In 2018 a sound carrier "Folk music hits from Austria" was produced together with ORF Steiermark.
