Alpine Grand Prix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alpen Grand Prix - South Tyrolean Grand Prix of Folk Music is a music competition of folk music that has been held annually in South Tyrol since 1993 .

The organizer is TOP Musik & Event from Lana / South Tyrol. Initially, only performers and groups from South Tyrol started. Since the 5th event (1997), performers from Germany and Austria have also participated. From 1999 onwards, interpreters from Alsace , from 2000 onwards from the Netherlands and Slovenia were also involved, but these countries were later no longer represented. From 2002, however, Switzerland took part in the competition. In some of the participating countries, preliminary decisions were also held. The number of participants in each country varies.

In 2000, South Tyrol also took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music for the first time, which Germany, Austria and Switzerland have held as a joint competition since 1986. There was also a preliminary decision for this competition in South Tyrol (see Grand Prix of Folk Music 2000 ), which was held by the “Working Group for the Promotion of Musical Entertainment Culture”. Thus there were two different folk music competitions in South Tyrol in 2000, which also had almost the same names. As a result, the traditional “South Tyrolean Grand Prix of Folk Music”, which has been taking place since 1993, changed its name from 2001 to “Alpine Grand Prix”. It only bears the title “South Tyrolean Grand Prix of Folk Music” as a subtitle, but describes itself as “The Original” because of its longer tradition.

Since 2003, the Alpine Grand Prix has had separate ratings for the areas of “ Schlager ” and “ Folk Music ”. As a result, there were also two winning titles. Every artist, group, ensemble, choir, composer and lyricist, regardless of their nationality / nationality, is eligible to participate. The singing language is German.
