Museum of Ethnography

The Musée d'ethnographie de Genève («Museum of Ethnology of the City of Geneva ») is one of the most important ethnographic museums in Switzerland .

It was opened on September 25, 1901 and was set up on the initiative of Professeur Eugène Pittard (1867–1962), who also held the first chair in anthropology at the University of Geneva . The museum houses around 100,000 objects and documents from all continents of the world. Its activities are divided between two addresses: the main building on Boulevard Carl Vogt 65–67 in the city center and the Dépendance in Conches .
