Chêne-Bougeries is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland .

geography

The rural community is located to the left of Lake Geneva and to the right of the Seymaz and includes the districts of Grange-Canal, Malagnou, Le Vallon, La Pommière and Conches as well as the La Gradelle and La Montagne apartment blocks built at the end of the 20th century.

history

In 1536 the hamlet of Chêne was occupied by the Bernese. In 1564 Chêne stayed near Geneva. With the Treaty of Turin in 1754, the left bank of the Seymaz came to Savoy , while the right bank remained at Geneva and thus reformed. Chêne was thus divided into the Geneva Chêne-Bougeries and the Savoy Chêne-Bourg .

The community was mentioned around 1270 as Quercus and around 1801 as Chêne-les-Bougeries .
