history

In Collonge-Bellerive, on the shores of Lake Geneva, there is one of the best-preserved pile-dwelling settlements from the later Bronze Age (around 1000 BC to 900 BC).

Collonge-Bellerive belonged to the county of Geneva before it became Savoyard in 1401 . In 1792 the municipalities of Collonge, Vésenaz and Saint-Maurice were merged to form the municipality of Collonge-Bellerive and became part of France. Collonge-Bellerive belonged to Sardinia from 1814 to 1816 before it became part of the canton of Geneva.

Mentioned around 1153 as Collonges , 1275 as Sancto Mauricio , was called Collonge sur Bellerive until 1799 .
