Bardonnex is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland .

The villages and hamlets of Bardonnex , Charrot , Croix-de-Rozon , Compesières , Landecy , La Mure and Cugny belong to the municipality in the south of the canton on the Franco-Swiss border .

The A1 motorway customs office is located in the municipality , which on the French side merges smoothly into the French A41 motorway and shortly thereafter crosses the A40 , which passes south of the canton of Geneva.

history

In 1153 Bardonnex, which was already settled in Roman times, was mentioned as Bardonacum. From 1536 to 1567 Bardonnex was under the rule of Bern before it came to Savoy . In 1754, Bardonnex came to the Kingdom of Sardinia in the Turin Treaty . In 1816, Bardonnex finally came to the canton of Geneva as the municipality of Compesières and became independent in 1851 when Compesières was divided into the municipalities of Bardonnex and Plan-les-Ouates .
