Erik Truffaz
Erik Truffaz (born April 3, 1960 in Chêne-Bougeries ) is a French jazz trumpeter who is sometimes considered the epigone of Miles Davis .
Live and act
As the son of a professional musician, Truffaz performed in his father's dance orchestra before the end of his first decade. After attending the Conservatories of Geneva and Chambéry , he founded his first quintet Orange in 1991 with Marcello Giuliani, Marc Erbetta, Pierre-Luc Vallet and Maurice Magnoni . Together they won the special prize at the Paris Concours National de Jazz Festival in 1991 , released their debut album Nina Valéria and were invited to the Montreux Jazz Festival .
At the same time, Truffaz began to play in the hip-hop formation Silent Majority . Since then he has performed repeatedly with DJ Goo and rapper Nya . Elements of hip-hop, rock 'n' roll and other dance music as well as classical electronic music go into his nu jazz compositions .
The Erik Truffaz Quartet consists of Marcello Giuliani , Marc Erbetta and Benoît Corboz (2012). His second quartet Ladyland consists of Michel Benita (bass), Philippe Pipon Garcia (drums) and Manu Codjia (guitar). Since 2018 he has also been on tour in a duo with Krzysztof Kobyliński .
