Bernhard Stoeckle

Bernhard Stoeckle OSB (born January 10, 1927 in Munich ; † December 15, 2009 in Ruhpolding ) was a Roman Catholic religious and moral theologian . From 1970 to 1992 he taught at the University of Freiburg , where he was rector from 1977 to 1983.

Life

Bernhard Stoeckle visited the Benedictine Ettal school and entered there after high school in Ettal monastery of the Congregation of Benedictine at. He was deployed in Munich as an air force helper in World War II , together with Joseph Ratzinger , among others . On November 17, 1947, he made his profession in Ettal . On March 19, 1952, he was ordained a priest in Ettal and taught at the religious college. 1954 Stoeckle at was University of Munich with the work The doctrine of original sin concupiscence in their importance to the Christian ethos body for Doctor of theology doctorate and taught fundamental theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm in Rome. In 1962 he completed his habilitation at the University of Salzburg with a work on the history and analysis of the theological axiom "Gratia supponit naturam".

In 1970 he became a professor at the University of Freiburg appointed . The topic of his inaugural lecture was Under the Claim of Hope. Notes on an eschatological foundation of Christian ethics. From 1977 to 1983 he was rector of the University of Freiburg. In 1992 he retired .

Stoeckle had been an honorary member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1984 . Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau in the CV .

Stoeckle was the island curate of Frauenchiemsee from 1992 to 2001 and initiated the ship procession on Corpus Christi in the 1990s , in a three-year cycle. After his pastoral work in Frauenchiemsee, he worked in Vachendorf near Traunstein.

Stoeckle was buried in the cloister of the Ettal monastery.
