The pyramidalis muscle ( Latin for "pyramidal muscle ") is one of the abdominal muscles . The skeletal muscle lies in front of the insertion of the rectus abdominis muscle and is enclosed by the rectus sheath . It is a rudimentary muscle that is functionally almost insignificant in humans and is completely absent in 10 to 25 percent of cases. It rises from the pubic bone and attaches it to the linea alba , stretching it towards the pelvis.
