Michael Schünke

Michael Schünke (* 23. July 1950 in Dippoldiswalde ) is a German physician, anatomist and emeritus professors .

Life

Michael Schünke, who was born in 1950 in Dippoldiswalde in Saxony and lived there until he was four, passed his Abitur in 1971 at an international school in Brunssum in the Netherlands after brief stops in Remagen, Gießen, Rendsburg and Weilheim . From 1974 to 1978 he completed a degree in biology , first at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and from 1976 at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , from which he graduated. From 1979 to 1983 he was a research assistant at the Zoological Institute, Department of Zoophysiology, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Kiel. At the chair for zoophysiology there, he received his doctorate in natural sciences in 1982 ; In 1983 he was awarded the Faculty Prize.

As a biologist, however, Schünke always had the feeling that he had too little medical knowledge. Therefore, he started studying medicine in 1983 . From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a research assistant and from 1985 to 1991 as a university assistant at the Anatomical Institute of Kiel University. In 1989 he received his doctorate in medicine . the. Between 1989 and 1991 he worked as an intern and obtained his license to practice medicine in 1991.

Schünke completed his habilitation in anatomy in 1991 and became a private lecturer at the University of Kiel, where he worked as a senior assistant at the anatomical institute until 1992. In 1992 he moved to the Anatomical Institute of the University of Lübeck as a senior assistant , where he was given the license to teach anatomy in 1993. In 1994 he accepted a position at the University of Kiel for a university professor to become the Director of the Anatomical Institute.

Since 1995, Schünke, with the collaboration of his wife, the biologist Gabriele Schünke, has continued the standard work Der Körper des Menschen , founded by Adolf Faller , who died in 1989 (after the 11th edition was published) , and which he has since completely revised. For more than 25 years, until 2010, he taught at the School for Physiotherapy of the Lubinus Foundation in Kiel.

Schünke retired and retired in 2016 at the latest. He lives with his wife in Kiel.
