Erik Schulte

Erik Schulte (born July 30, 1956 in Baden-Baden ) is a German anatomist and doctor . He is C4 Professor of Anatomy and Director of the Institute for Functional and Clinical Anatomy of University Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .

Education and career

After graduating from high school, Schulte studied medicine at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg from 1976 to 1982 . He then completed his basic military service as a battalion doctor in the Bundeswehr. After the successful doctorate to Dr. med. In 1988 he completed his habilitation in anatomy . This was followed by a change as a senior assistant to the Anatomical Institute of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Schulte worked here until 1992 when he accepted a chair for anatomy at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . Schulte has been a specialist in anatomy since 1996. Schulte has been director of the Institute for Functional and Clinical Anatomy at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz since 2015.

Schulte is considered a pioneer when it comes to streaming and digitizing lectures. For years he has been broadcasting his anatomy lectures live on the university's intranet.

Prizes and awards

• 1996: Prize for teaching in the medical department of the University of Mainz
• 2007: Prize for teaching in the medical department of the University of Mainz
• 2017: Teaching award from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz
• 2018: State Teaching Prize Rhineland-Palatinate
